It's been a while since I've seen a horror trailer that I've been impressed with, but the trailer for The Strangers really gave me goosebumps.
Though it's no Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the remake) trailer, it still has some genuinely slick editing and sound design going for it. I love how quiet it is in the beginning which slowly escalates into some crazy ass dissonance in cadence with the record skip. I also LOVE the end where Liv goes "Why are you doing this to us?" and the masked killer goes "...because you were home." How coolly that line is delivered is absolutely terrifying.
I'm excited. It's been a long time since I've seen a good horror movie. I hope it doesn't go all crazy into "Last House on the Left" style or whatever (which, they are doing a remake on, bleh). I'm also glad that Liv Tyler is finally in a movie after a long 4 year hiatus post LOTR. Stop wasting your golden years woman!
The only part of the trailer that threw me off is the awful girl who does Liv's loop line at (:30). "What is that?" Sorry, you work in this biz long enough, and stuff like this just screams out in your face.
Note: I have massive hots for Kirby on Lipstick Jungle, who is a total Scott Speedman doppleganger!
